Nourishing Chia Seeds In Our Diet

Nourishing Chia Seeds In Our Diet

Chia Seeds are a nourishing superfood that are still trending.  They are so nutritious that I think they will always stay in the top ten of my nutritious superfood list.  Chia seeds are so convenient to add to all of my clients diets.  I can sneak them into everyone’s menu planning including the fussiest of eaters.  We always have a jar handy in my kitchen to add to most of our meals.

Why I Love Chia Seeds

First of all, I find it incredible that such a tiny seed may help reduce inflammation.  Many health experts suggest that most health conditions begin with inflammation in the body.  Chia seeds are packed with healthy unsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid.  The healthy fats.  Some even say they are the richest plant source of omega-3.  Wow!  Apparently, these seeds contain roughly 30 percent oil, including linoleic acid and linolenic acid.  Linoleic acid is one of the two essential fatty acids.  Our bodies cannot produce essential fatty acids.  This is why it is essential to include a variety of healthy fats into our diets.  Deficiency of healthy fats causes problems in every cell, tissue, and organ in the body.

Chia Seeds Nutritional News

Raw, gluten-free, non-cholesterol and unrefined.  Vitamins and minerals they contain are calcium, iron, potassium, vitamins A, Bs and C, magnesium, folate, zinc, boron and selenium.  They are great for balancing your blood sugar and weight loss.  Chia seeds contain good amounts of soluble and insoluble fibre.  Soluble fibre forms a gel-like substance improving digestion, balancing blood-sugar levels and promoting satiety.  I love chia seeds for cleansing, muscle development, healthy skin and hair, growth and repair.

How I Enjoy Chia Seeds

I love adding them to my smoothies.  I pop them into my green juices.  Add to salads, granola, muesli, soups, porridge, smoothies or yogurt.  Mix up a batch of my Superfood Chia Seed Mix is a convenient way to eat them.  I often soak chia seeds in coconut water overnight.  I top them with mixed berries, nuts, cacao nibs and coconut flakes.
