Tell us about yourself and your business.
Thank you!! Lovely to be a part of your tribe! I’m a qualified nutritionist, have a health science degree, and am a columnist for the APN newspapers like The Sunshine Coast Daily, journalist and treat clients in my sunny coast clinic.
Why do you choose to be fit and healthy?
I choose to be fit and healthy because I wasn’t always this way. When I was 17 years old I was living on a diet of chocolate doughnuts, cigarettes, diet coke and vegemite on toast. I became extremely unwell and over weight with many diseases and was bed ridden for over a year. This is what sparked my studies and complete life overhaul.
Who are your inspirational superstars who get your butt moving and nutritious inspiration going on your plate?
For inspiration I love Louise Hay, Dr. Wayne Dyer, the Deli Lama and while I admire other nutrition and health personalities out there I actually don’t follow them too closely, I prefer to hunt down the right international scientists to interview on their latest research on food and nutrition and find out what the most cutting edge science is saying instead.
What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Breakfast for me can be rushed so my favorites are an organic boiled egg from our free-range chickens, with a slice of toasted buckwheat chia bread and coconut oil spread over it. I also like cooked quinoa porridge with chopped apple, raw almonds and rice milk.
What would we always find in your fridge?
I always have ginger, turmeric, garlic and lots of green in my fridge LOL!
What are your favorite snacks?
My fave snacks are: a handful of raw nuts, homemade olive hummus with gluten free crackers or raw chocolate chia pudding.
What areas of cooking or eating healthy do you love or find challenging? i.e. quick snacks for the kids, breakfast ideas, post workout snacks.
I love making my spaghetti bol recipe for the family because its super healthy and everyone loves it! School lunch boxes can be challenging sometimes.
How do you keep fit?
I stay fit by doing the things I love like bushwalking, mountain climbing, being in nature and I do Pilates every night. I do things I enjoy.
Do you have a motivational quote that you love?
“You are made of star dust, literally!” We are generally so internally focused on ourselves; I love how this statement can remind us of our magnificent origins, the complex connection between outer space and our own creation.
What are your goals for your business?
My goals for my business are just to keep doing what I love, to bridge the gap between science and holism and wisdom. To help people through cooking videos, retreats at our Sunny Coast property in the hinterland of Noosa, more talks, more books, more of it all! It’s too fun to stop! =)
