How To Improve Digestion

How To Improve Digestion

Digestion issues often arise with an imbalance of gut flora.  Optimum digestion, I believe, is integral to maintaining a strong immune system, vitality, weight loss and healthy ageing.  So how do we balance the flora in the gut for a happy digestive system?

How To Improve Digestion

My secret weapon for my digestion our Nutritional Cleansing System.  The system addresses digestion from all angles.  Our shakes are high in fibre and active enzymes to help ease digestion.  Other nutritional products in the system contain cleansing herbs and minerals which support improved water absorption for better colonic function.  My digestion has improved enormously!

Increase foods containing magnesium.

Avoid drinking fluids with your meal as this dilutes your digestive juices.

Include heaps of dietary fibre including;  chia seeds, figs, oats, almonds, rye bread, nuts, prunes, fruit and vegetables (skin on).

Eating paw-paw or pineapple before a meal is great for improving digestion.  They both contain a digestive enzyme called bromelain which really helps digestion.

Turmeric is brilliant.

Increase foods containing probiotics including; natural yoghurt, cottage cheese, kefir, sauerkraut, tofu, miso, natto, tempeh, and tamari.  Probiotic foods are known to improve immunity, relieve symptoms of thrush, and help with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Especially relevant is chewing every mouthful for about fifteen slow chews.

Sit down, relax and really appreciate your delicious nutrition.  No TV, study or work!

Foods To Avoid To Improve Digestion

Caffeine (coffee, teas, chocolate, sports drinks)

Refined carbohydrates (sugar, white bread, rice, and pasta)

Food intolerance’s and food allergies

Inflammatory foods including; saturated fats (meat and dairy), refined foods and sugar.

Health Benefits Of Good Bacteria

Good bacteria make us happy!  Other benefits may include; anti-inflammatory, strong immunity, good bowel motions, and inhibit the growth of bad bacteria.  There are many good bacterias.  One worthy of a special mention is Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) a well-researched, clinically proven probiotic.  LGG has also been shown to decrease the risk of stomach upsets, diarrhoea, eczema, and allergies.  In conclusion, practice yoga to reduce stress.

Manage the stress in your life.  High stress levels have a detrimental effect on our health, including digestion.

Every day I practice yoga, walk in nature and take our daily nutrient-rich herbal concentrate that combines adaptogens, antioxidants, and nutrients to balance our body’s systems and strengthen its abilities to fight and resist the effects of stress.  The tonic also improves my clarity and mental focus, so I can stay sharp during the day.  Elevates my daily performance.  Helps battle the effects of physical stress and improve recovery.  It’s one of my favourite products from our nutritional system.
