Healthy Herbs In My Kitchen

Fresh herbs are a winner for enticing my family to devour wellness from their plates.  I often put a bunch of fresh herbs on my kitchen table.  These are my favourite herbs that are regularly in my kitchen.

Herbs That I Love


How I Use It:  Tomato and potato dishes, pesto, omelette, salads, meats, vegetables, pizza, mince and rice dishes.

Health Benefits:  Digestive aid, calms the nerves and may ease headaches.  Relieves colic, stomach spasms, kidney ailments and poor circulation.  Antibacterial and anthelmintic (anti-worm) activities.


Considered a herb and a spice. Also known as Cilento.

How I Use It:  Salads, marinades, stir fry, Asian dishes, casseroles, curries and chutneys

Cooking Idea:  Coriander leaves can be added or used instead of basil for a deliciously nutritious pesto.


Did you know rosemary is a member of the mint family?

How I Use It:  Roast lamb, pork, grilled fish, omelettes, frittatas, casseroles, tomato sauces, croutons, soups.


How I Use It:  Soups, salads, juicing, stuffing whole grilled fish, pesto, tabbouleh, garnishing.

Cooking Idea:  Combine chopped parsley, garlic and lemon zest and use it as a rub for chicken, lamb or beef.

Nutritional benefits include;  High in chlorophyll, carotenes, and vitamin C, folic acid, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and zinc.  Good source of dietary fibre.

Health Benefits:  A diuretic, mouth freshener and blood purifier.

    Just had a look through your site – it is Beautiful!!! No wonder you ALL look so healthy and vibrant!! I’m so impressed and proud of you, as it is really something to be committed to something so profoundly important – it is inspiring.
